The 21st Century Learning Alliance with Sir Mike Tomlinson will be at baseLearning on 17th March 2010
baseLearning brings together the business and education sectors to discuss education and skills in a low-carbon economy. Its focus is on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects and the work and career options that these open for young people, via vocational, technical and academic routes to employment.
Its content connects classroom attainment with careers in today’s sustainable business environment. It aims to facilitate constructive debate between education and industry that will lead to productive relationships that engage, inspire and prepare young people for working life.
baseLearning is the education and skills strand of a wider event called base which addresses the opportunities for business as the UK shifts to a low-carbon model. Education and skills play a key role. The role of business in inspiring young people is also critical.
School and college leaders and STEM educators are invited to join the base delegation at this morning session on the 17th March to represent the education sector, discussing, engaging and building relationships with the many sectors from the business community attending.
